Dinning Pavilion
Conceptual idea responding to the relationship between the experience of dining and the expectation of high productivity. The dining pavilion would act as a space dedicated to allowing participants from the 4th avenue food carts to immerse themselves in the experience of food consumption in seclusion. Through visual observation, the overall design idea of horizontal exaggeration arose from thinking of the food carts as a collective rather than organizing them into individual units. The implication of mash along to primary facade as well as the center pivot doors introduced the idea of separation between participants and outsiders. The further exploration of individually gave rise to detailed seating arrangements using light and shadows to create visual barriers. Additional design techniques, including materiality choices such as the fogged glassed used in places of vertical movement to resemble the flow of steam, implemented to amply the experience of food preparation.
