Dancing with Fish
This exercise draws attention to the interaction between architecture and the natural world and its existing landscape. The purposed design would be occupied by the Flyfisher’s Club of Oregon (FFCO), located within Willamette park, and serve primarily as a meeting place for FFCO participants and visitors. The development will also feature a library, utility room, full kitchen, gathering space, and two guestrooms. The design focuses on the traveling involving in getting to a flyfishing location. As described by several flyfishing experts, flyfishing is not a single act. Some events occur before catching a fish, as well as a few that follow. Those who are not as aware of the sport may not take into account the possible hours spent towards getting to a fishing location — using the concepts of form and light three different sets created to mimic events that occur within the natural environment. Set one focuses on how light travels through the canopies of trees. Set two explores the rhythm created by the trunks of trees as you walk through thick forestry. The final set acts as a destination point by framing the existing landscape.
