Architecture and the Arts
Using the genre of philosophy, the literary arts center will revolve around the idea of self-reflection as well as the pursuit of knowledge through discussion and research. The geometry of the structure encourages the occupants to move throughout the building by providing glimpses of blurred visuals of different settings without full exposure. Murals taken from the Brancaccio Chapel will be introduced to showcase the religious theory explored during the early renaissance to explain reality and existence. Through the character of Saint Paul, these murals were encouraged to drive the community of Florence back to salvation through the church. Revealing more of itself as occupants move through, the placement of each mural angles the occupants to follow an intended path. Light wells are also paired with these murals to enhance its presence and highlight spaces of learning.
